How did this happen? I've become one of those people...you know, the ones who give you unwanted and usually stupid advice without you asking for it. I swore after being pregnant and being told the stupidest things ("Eat macaroni and cheese, that will put you into labor"...are you kidding me?) that I would try my best not to be an annoying mom spouting advice like I'm a frikkin Dr. Spock or something.
It didn't really work out.
So, I'm in Babies R Us perusing the eczema creams and I overhear a girl and her mom picking out things for her baby registry. They start discussing registering for diapers, newborn sizes and I can't help but blurt out to these complete strangers "My baby weighed 8-14 and came home in size ones. I wouldn't register for many newborn diapers." They look and me and seem appreciative, the girl thanks me for my advice. They start to move on, and oh no here it comes again "But if you do get a lot of sizes that don't fit you can return them to Walmart. They usually take them back or let you exchange them for a bigger size." Cue the silent look between the mother and daughter as they silently back away before the crazy girl keeps spouting advice or tries to steal their scanner and just do the whole registry for them.
I just hung my head in shame and moved on to find the level two nipples.
Later on in Target I manage to keep my mouth shut as I see the same thing happening- mother and daughter registering for a crapload of newborn size diapers. I think my restraint had something to do with the mom's two inch black roots, that raspy voice that only comes with years of tobacco abuse, and her neck tattoo.
Watch out America...the unwanted advice giver may be coming to a baby aisle near you.
